Choirs

The Chancel Choir leads worship at our 10 a.m. worship each Sunday morning from September through May and rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In worship they sing an introit, one or two anthems as well as a benediction response. All adults and high school youth are welcome to join the Chancel Choir. In addition to Worship responsibilities, the Chancel Choir usually performs two concerts a year outside of worship. With COVID restrictions still in place, we continue to follow appropriate guidelines set forth by the CDC by being vaccinated, wearing masks, keeping a safe distance and staying home when ill.

The Handbell Choir is led by our church volunteer Jane Benson. The 3-5 octave ensemble meets weekly for rehearsals and plays in worship once a quarter. Rehearsals are set to begin soon following an absence of rehearsals because of the pandemic.

The Youth Choir: Pre-COVID, the Youth Choir rehearsed  Sundays after the 10:00 am service in the Choir Room, lower level, with Robert Cantrell, our professional baritone and instructor at the Baltimore School of the Arts. We look forward to the time when they, as well as all singers, may make music together again! The group normally sings in services once a month as well as special services and concerts with the Chancel Choir.

The Children’s Choir meets during the 9 to 10 a.m. Sunday School hour and sings in worship once a month. Children Preschool/Kindergarten through 4th grade are welcome to sing with us.

For more information or if you’re interested in joining one of the choirs, please reach out to our Minister of Music, Christopher Schroeder at chris@graceunitedmethodist.org
