5 pm Tenebrae Service of Word and Song

The Service of Tenebrae includes readings from the Gospel of John alternating with choral anthems and congregational hymns. The service is similar to Christmas Lessons and Carols, but with a focus on Jesus’ final days leading to his death. As candles are extinguished one by one throughout the service, the stage is set to continue our Holy Week observance and experience the miracle of resurrection.

5 p.m. Tenebrae Service of Word and Song

On Friday, April 10 at 5 p.m., we observe Good Friday with a service patterned after the Service of Lessons and Carols at Christmas, with readings and/or scripture alternating with hymns and anthems. As the service progresses, lights and candles are extinguished until the service ends in darkness, setting the stage for the miracle of Easter.
