Christian Formation for Adults at Grace

Throughout the year, Grace offers classes and study opportunities for adults in the following areas:

Sunday School Classes

The Grace-Full Enquirers 9 a.m. Sunday (Starts September 11) Room 116

We will begin in the fall with a series on The Prodigal God by Tim Keller (led by Pam Cheek) and follow that with a series on Global Health and Development Issues from a Christian Perspective (led by Henry Perry).

Journeys Class 9 a.m. Sunday in the Parlor (Starts September 18)

This year we will rely on class members to help lead the class, facilitated by Heather Grandsire. We would like to explore other denominations of Christianity and other world religions. We may take a look at the architecture of churches and religious meeting places and some of the symbolism they house. We will take a look at other curricula from Adam Hamilton. This class will be flexible throughout the year and will be whatever we want to make of it!

It will take place during the Alleluia Choir rehearsals, so consider joining us if you are dropping off a child downstairs. There will also be childcare for children not occupied by choir rehearsal. We will begin each Sunday morning at 9:00 am and end in time for you to get to the 10:00 am service. Please join us in the Parlor. September 18 will be a “meet and get organized” with breakfast and coffee served for both kids and adults. Hope to see you there! Call the church office at 410-433-6650 for more information.

The Explorers Class, led by Jack Danz
(Will begin January 8 at 11:30 a.m. in Room 116)

Our class will begin reading and discussing Bob Bell’s book, “Love Wins.” Christians have long struggled with how to reconcile God’s love and God’s judgment. Are only a few of us to go to heaven and everyone else to suffer eternal torment? What really did Jesus mean by heaven, hell, and salvation?

Biblical Studies

This study will be led by Rev. Amy P. McCullough, our Senior Pastor. Date and time will be announced in the Bulletin and Grace Notes closer to the beginning of Lent.

Companions in Christ

Tuesday evenings from 7:00-9:00 pm, dates to be announced

Companions in Christ, a small-group experience in spiritual formation, provides an opportunity for participants to grow in closer Christian relationship with one another as they respond to God’s call to an ever-deepening communion and wholeness in Christ. This study encourages participants along that path as individuals, as members of a small group, and as part of the larger congregation as they discover spiritual practices for sharing more fully in the Christian life. Companions in Christ will expose participants to spiritual wisdom and guidance drawn from the full spectrum of our historic Christian heritage – from early leaders in the faith, as well as reformers and modern spiritual writers. Learning and growing together, we will seek God, share our lives in Christ, and open ourselves to the guidance of the Spirit.
Watch Grace Notes and the Bulletin for news about a second Companions in Christ group forming.
